Meniscus repair surgery

Has anyone had keyhole meniscus repair surgery?

My 13 year old had this surgery a week ago and our discharge was rubbish and our aftercare info has been non existent.

He is currently still in his three layers of bandages and his knee brace. We have finally had confirmation that his stitches need to come out in 10-14 days (surgeon had written 10-14 weeks on the discharge notes) but now I don't know if he needs some of his bandages back on after stitches removal or if he's ok in just the knee brace...can anyone help with what happened to them?

I've rang the ward he was on and they couldn't help at all...I've spoke to one of his consultants secretary who just responded with well I don't know about his bandages and then she ended the phone call

I'm trying to stay positive about the NHS but it's frustrating the amount of chasing up I'm having to do to get aftercare info

Hi there,

I had this just over a month ago. I was told to remove the bandages 2 days post surgery but keep the plasters covering the incision sites on until the stitches were taken out. I was given an appointment with a nursery exactly 2 weeks post surgery to have the stitches out. After my stitches were out I had plasters back on for 2 days and then I was allowed to take those off. I waited around 3/4 weeks to have a proper shower and let me knee get wet and I'm still a bit iffy about soaking it in a bath.

I hope that's helpful at all
