Random goosebumps

This is so weird and I'm really not sure if I should go to the gp with it.

Basically I've been getting random patches of goosebumps suddenly appear for no reason on various parts of my body for the last month. First time was on my lower left arm, I get a strong tingling feeling then the patches appear in a random pattern (not fully covering my arm) they last around 30 seconds and disappear.

It can happen several times an hour or go a day or two with nothing. The thing is it was just my arm, then my lower leg but yesterday it started on my left side abdomen, so seems to be spreading. It doesn't hurt or come with anything other than the strong tingling.

No other major health issues. Psoriasis and borderline high thyroid levels (positive antibodies but currently on no treatment)

Feels so stupid to make a doctors appointment for a minor annoyance!

Have you have any updates on this same thing is happening to me ...

OneFootInTheGrave91 · 03/09/2022 13:56

Also been happening to me today on my left arm only, on and off all day now.. so strange and I’m starting to freak out a bit! Anyone else?!

Supergamermumx · 03/09/2022 15:07

I have fibromyalgia, but also thinking it could be more and since this has happened the tingling I usually have has gotten worse, I think its a nerve issue

this is exactly how mine looks! And I have suspected I have fibromyalgia for a very long time as I do have a lot of symptoms (I know there’s tons!)

I also sometimes feel what feels like little water drops on my skin, particularly on my face, and usually when outside.. often announcing it’s raining, when it’s not! When I googled this it said about it being nerve related too.

How long has the goosebumps thing being going on for you? Have you noticed anything else, too?

Its scary, isn’t it.

Supergamermumx · 03/09/2022 17:25

I have always have nerve issues since fibromyalgia officially diagnosed 2 years, I have muscle twitching,n numbness and facial twitching, then the goosebumps are totally new going to maybe see neuro privately

OneFootInTheGrave91 · 03/09/2022 17:42

Yes I don’t blame you, and hopefully you will get some answers.

I too have recently noticed twitching in my lip and cheek area..

I hope you get the answers you are looking for, whenever that may be.

Just seen there are replys!

No real update from me, the day I posted it was really bad going all down my left side chest and abdomen. But it eased off over the following days, then stopped for about a week. Have been getting it a couple of times a day on my right arm for the last week now.

It looks exactly like the picture posted. Kind of glad to hear I'm not the only one with this and if anyone gets an answer it would be great to hear back :)

Hi hexcode! Good to see a reply from you. I’m wondering, have you been going through anything stressful recently? Or feeling particularly anxious? My little 4 year old boy is having a hard time adjusting to starting school and I feel utterly dreadful leaving him when he is so upset. I feel like I can’t switch off at the moment, and very overwhelmed. Its safe to say I am stressed out and wondering if this could be why I’ve been experiencing the strange goosebumps!

Hexcode · 11/09/2022 20:41

I've had a really stressful last couple of weeks (job interviews, handing in notice etc) but when it first started wasn't stressed at all, in fact had a very relaxing two weeks off when it was at its worse, so don't think it's a stress thing for me.

One thing possibly connected (and didn't think of it before reading back over these replies) I do have a weird nerve problem and have done for years. I get random patches of sunburn like sensation when touched on parts of my arms, legs, hands and feet. It comes on suddenly, lasts a couple of weeks and disappears. Happens a couple of times a year. I actually went to a neurologist after a really bad episode where it was all down my right leg and arm. He did all the normal checks and apart from balance issues everything seemed normal. He just said it was probably one of those things.

Probably completely unrelated, but thought it worth mentioning!
