How to recover from D&V in the next 2 hours

Dh is leaving for work in 2 hours and I will have to look after my 10 month old myself. I have been unwell since 1am with D&V. Although I haven't had an episode of either since 6am I am feeling incredibly poorly in bed and think I must be missing something? Anything I can do to feel good enough to function?

Whenever I've had bugs like this before I've been fine from mid morning. But if I fall asleep I wake up within 5 mins with the room spinning and stomach up in my throat. If I get out of bed or even turn in bed too quickly I get heart palpitations and more nausea, and occasionally I have waves of bad stomach cramps.

I just want to cry now! I have been sipping fluids and am just having some juice now in case its a sugar issue. Anything else I should be doing?

Telling DH he needs to stay at home. Seriously, you're not fit to function.

Goldfishjones · 06/08/2022 11:33

Well your DH needs to take some time off work then. Like all parents do sometimes.

Goldfishjones · 06/08/2022 11:34

Meant to say - sorry you are so poorly and I hope you feel better soon. It's so hard when you are poorly with caring responsibilities.

YouBoggleMyMind · 06/08/2022 11:38

Your DH takes time off work to look after the kids and you recover.

custardbear · 06/08/2022 11:40

Yep, In this case you're unable to function so DH needs to take emergency leave to be a parent

Bobbybobbins · 06/08/2022 11:54

Your DH needs to take the day off.

Thank you, it's not ideal but I don't think we'll have a choice. I kept hoping I'd magically get better but it's just not happening. I seem to be feeling even more faint despite the juice. I'm speaking to a GP shortly so hoping for some anti-emetics that can be used when breastfeeding.

I'm so bored and I miss my baby so much!

I don't think a GP will prescribe anti emetics for a d and v bug which hasn't even lasted 12 hours yet. Very impressed you can get a GP to speak to you on a Saturday by the way.

Juice is the last thing you need. Just water and I'm sure you'll start to feel better soon.
