to remove nasal turbinates. i feel i should be a bit more stressed and finding out all sorts of information aboutit. statistics, readighorror stories etc. what to expect afterwards with recovery etc.
but i guess i am a bad apathetic mummy.? anyone have any experienc e of htis? he is 10.9 years old

Oh- my dh has turbinate problems, but we didn't go down the surgery route, so can't help there. At ds's age though, is probably best if he has problems already poor lad.
Hope all goes well, and thinking of your family.

pukkapatch · 19/01/2008 21:04

thank you eachpeach.
dh also has same problem. neither one of them can breath through their noses. the consultant said that either ds should have to op to remove them, or jus tlive with it as nothing else could be done.
wehn he is over sixteenn, ie, stopped growing, he can have the septum straightened, but if he has it now, it will mean his nose will stop growing. so cant have that yet.
i think dh is being a coward and waiting to see if he should go demand the same from the doctor.

Well, dh's isn't that bad thank goodness. The only times it has bothered him is when flying tbh. Even scuba diving was fine.
He did have a very funny turn due to it once when descending and he had a cold- was very poorly, and flight crew all very worried etc ...but these days (ie post baby) we don't fly very often (well haven't at all yet, and she's almost 2!).
The consultant was actually amazed when he investigated, as they discovered DH has the largest sinuses the consultant had ever seen (outside of a textbook)

Dh is was very proud of that! He frequently
mentions them when people talk about sinuses!

pukkapatch · 21/01/2008 20:06

well, he's had it. far less worrying than i thought it might be.
he has loads of drops to go in his nose. i'm a bit worried it is bleeding so much, but the dr did say that as long as it wasnt a contant stream, it was fine. so i'm hoping it will stop soon.
fingesrs crossed.

Oh Pukka- so sorry to hear that. Nasal procedures are always nasty as there are so many nerves in those areas.
It will improve soon- he's young and healthy. Just very wearing on mum!
Sorry to drag it over from the other thread, but does he know about his entrance exam results yet?

pukkapatch · 25/01/2008 18:52

he hasnt been eating much, and says he is feeling weak. but the little sod wont eat anything either. he has agreed to have a melted cheese sandwich, but thats what he had for lnch! well, baked potato and cheese. a good varied balanced diet.

my effing dh is taking him to the shops to get him a blazer........
what part ofkeep him away from infectios people does he not understand? has he never been shopping before? does he think that people will walk around weraing gas masks for his benefit?

i though i'd take him to the park today, a nice walk in rishmond park. its a beautiful sunny day. geth im out of the house, and someowhere that open, he wontbe near coughing people etc. get hsi head cleared up a bit. andi find out dh is on his way to take him to the shops. he spent the last two nights at dsisters, who doesnt have a cold, and doesnt have kids. so wa s nice for him. which apparently all leads to it being ok to take him to the shops?
grrr.........
