Pain on top of my foot - going on 3 months now

3 months ago whilst in the park with my little one I managed to twist my ankle and fall over as I stepped awkwardly into a little rut in the ground.

It was painful but I managed to get up ok and make our way home hobbling.
Next day my ankle did swell up a bit and was sore for a week. But I also developed a pain on the top of my foot.

The ankle pain and swelling is long gone now but I still have this pain in the top of my foot.
It's constant and hurts more if I point my toes down (if I was laying in bed for example).

I've been wearing a tubigrip bandage on it.

I don't want to waste anyones time, would you bother to see the GP for this? Or is it just probably a bad sprain or ligament injury that is just taking a while to heal on the top of my foot?

I broke my ankle (other side!) about 10yrs ago and although that was more obvious and I actually had surgery on it, I never experienced any top of foot pain with the ankle injury so this is new territory for me.

I saw a podiatrist for a foot injury recently. He said that 'top of foot' pain can be caused by walking stiffly on an injured ankle - for example if you've been putting all your weight through your heel as you walk? Feet are incredibly complex things!

Thank you. I might see if there is a podiatrist near me.
