What is this just passed through my bowels? Graphic photo contained

Apologies in advance of the photo.

I've been having diarrhoea since 5am, with horrendous stomach aches. It's finally starting to calm down. However I've just been and this has come out. I didn't think to look until the toilet paper had slight blood but not bright.

It looks like I've passed some of my internal tissue?!

I already spoke to 111 earlier as the initial pain when it all first started was so bad I had horrific pins and needles all over my body and felt like I was going to pass out, the pain was worse than child birth until the bowels got moving. They asked about there being blood and it was no at the time.

I just find it a bit odd because it looks like a lump of flesh?? Rather than streams of blood?

Do I need to call them back? I'm absolutely petrified.

inwould, yes. Have you a temperature?

ScaredScaredScare · 30/07/2022 14:26

@Haggisfish3 thank you. Yes I did tell them I had a mild temperature, nothing as bad as flu like but definitely going hot to cold.

Could it be a polyp that has become detached? (I have no medical qualifications).
I'd fish it out and put it in a jar to show Somebody?

DottyLittleRainbow · 30/07/2022 14:39

Yeah call them back, they may advise you go to A&E.

ChickenSandwichandCupofTea · 30/07/2022 14:46

Sorry if this sounds silly but are you sure it isn’t a piece of undigested pepper/tomato? I’ve had that pass through before and had a moment of alarm before realising that’s what it was?

ScaredScaredScare · 30/07/2022 14:50

Thank you for the comments so far. I already flushed it but wish I hadn't. I have passed some more liquid and it's very light pink on the toilet paper.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't food but thank you for checking.

Best ring 111 back

uncomfortablydumb53 · 30/07/2022 15:02

Ring 111 back, they might make an appointment for you to get it checked
It must have been quite scary especially as you're generally unwell

Wbeezer · 30/07/2022 15:05

Also I once passed something nasty looking and thought it was from my bowel as I'd been having trouble in that area and had been on the loo for ages. Turned out the straining had dislodged an old lump of menstrual blood, it was black and had a weird grainy texture but your fleshy thing is a little reminiscent of a desidual cast.

WudYouSayItInRealLife · 30/07/2022 15:15

It looks like tomato skin to me

ScaredScaredScare · 30/07/2022 15:15

Yes desidual cast is the term I was trying to think of to describe it. I am pretty sure it didn't come out the front. I will call 111 back and see what they say.

I'm so lax,I'd have looked at that ,grimaced and flushed it and gone back to bed !

ittakes2 · 30/07/2022 15:51

It also looks like a tomato skin to me.

Same 😂

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/07/2022 16:39

It does look like undigested veg to me. Have you eaten anything like that in the last couple days? Anyway - get it checked out.

Gaveitall · 30/07/2022 16:42

Bleeding stomach ulcer?
Get it checked out.

ILoveYouMore2022 · 30/07/2022 16:53

IBS sufferer here!

That looks to me like a piece of bloodied mucus. Common when you have been experiencing diarrhoea for a while.

knickersniff · 30/07/2022 17:42

Look like mucus , does it smell bad ?

NighghtmareNeighbour · 30/07/2022 17:49

I’d also say some undigested tomato or red pepper. I regularly spot undigested food passing through when my crohns is in a flare, as it’s not in there long enough to fully break down.

ScaredScaredScare · 30/07/2022 19:16

It's happened again but only a small amount. It's definitely mucus as it's raw egg white consistency, only tinged sort of pink this time.

The OOH GP said they are sending all the info to my own GP and I can contact them Monday as they can't refer me anywhere.

I appreciate all your comments Flowers

Also had no smell to it whatsoever, none of the bowel movements have been particularly offensive.

I'd imagine it's tomato or pepper too. A few summers ago my Dad showed me a shitty bit of toilet paper with a red streak on it (God knows why, I've been traumatised since) I asked him if he had been eating tomatoes, he grows his own, to which he said yes he had. It was tomato skin. Thank goodness he hadn't been eating beetroot 😃
