Basically I've had shoulder pain for around four years now. Backwards & forwards to the GP.

The pain is in-between my shoulder blade and spin and sometimes my ribs hurt. My arm feels weak so I mostly use my right and when I lift my arm above my head, say if I'm washing my hair in the shower it feels weak and I get a pain down the inside of my arm. It mostly annoys me at night where the pain wakes me up and is mostly behind in the shoulder blade area. I've had physio who said probably muscular. They sent me for a chest X-ray a couple of years ago that was clear. Back to physio again recently and he did a shoulder & neck X-ray. Neck X-ray normal when I phoned the surgery but the receptionist said the shoulder X-ray was abnormal and would get the GP to phone me back who never did. I complained the next day and she said it would be passed onto the physio who would see me again in a couple of weeks! I said what is going on though for it to be abnormal I can't worry all this time. SHe wasn't sure she said the X-ray seems nothing serious but says an impingement.

The physio today was very blase he said the X-rays were okay but had an incidental finding of a bone that hadn't formed properly and likely a birth defect. It looked like two bones either side with a gap in the middle. Looking online I think it was the acromion. I said that the receptionist said about an impingement he said it can cause an impingement but is supported by muscles etc and would not be causing pain in the area I'm taking about. He still thinks it's muscular and has given me a lot YouTube video to look at 🙄 part of me was hoping I was finally getting somewhere after years of pain!! Now I'm back to square one ! 😭😭 can anyone with any knowledge help or have any suggestions?? To be honest part of me worries there's something more serious going on

OH says you need an MRI of your cervical spine which will quite likely show a C4/5 stenosis, which needs a referral to a spinal neurosurgeon for possible decompression. This would not be visible on an X-ray.
