yes ibuprofen(sp) doesnt contain paracetamol..give ibuprofen with food/after food tho is has sickness effect on dd as soon as shes taken it!

dd666 · 18/01/2008 20:32

yeah you can take them both hope your dc feels better soon

dolally · 18/01/2008 20:32

I thought you had to have a gap -

calpol every 4 hours then ibuprofen in between also every 4 hours....so it's a dose of one or other every 2 hours..?

not certain though.

spicemonster · 18/01/2008 20:33

Yes it is but current NICE guidelines are to give them separately as then you can alternate every 2 hours rather than every 4. Also it avoids giving your DC more medicine than they absolutely need.

If they have a very high fever, then 2 together is the way to go to bring it down and give relief most rapidly

(my DS was in hospital last month so am very up on all the info)

Thanks guys - I'm just trying to find a way to give DD a good night's sleep - she's had a run of appalling ones + she is teething (molars - do they really come out 1/4 at a time???) and has a sprained ankle. I was thinking calpol night for the sleep aspect and neurofen if she keeps waking up still as it may be pain and calpol doesn't seem to help as much as neurofen for that.
