What have I done to my arm?

Yesterday morning my left elbow felt awkward when I woke up. I'm pretty sure I slept on it in a weird way because I remember waking in the night and turning onto my stomach, which isn't a usual sleeping position for me.

My elbow looks slightly swollen on the inner side, though nothing really obvious and certain movements are still hurting. I can't comfortably bring my arm up to my shoulder close to my body, or stretch the arm out really straight. The outer side of my elbow is fine. It feels like I've stretched a tendon or something on the inner elbow. Almost like I overstretched doing something physical- but I know I didn't do that!

Any ideas?

I will start by saying I am not a medixal/health professional in any way.

It sounds like the pain discomfort I currently have in my elbow (and lack of movement)- saw a physio last week and she said I had tennis elbow (normally comes on gradually but I bizarrely had nothing until I had an impact injury further down my arm) 🤷🏼‍♀️. I now have strong anti inflammatory meds, physio exercises and an epi clasp (a support that sits under the elbow joint to support the tendons).

Would be worth seeing if your GP surgery has a physio that you can see.

Hope it feels better soon.

That's interesting because I read up about tennis elbow yesterday and the symptoms seemed to focus very much on the outer elbow. My discomfort is definitely on the inner elbow and didn't come on gradually. I'm pretty sure it was triggered by sleeping awkwardly. I'll see the GP if it persists.

I've done this before.

It hurt for a few days and I took ibuprofen and used ice.

I would have sought medical advice had it continued but by not using the arm to lift anything and at home remedies it sorted itself out.
