Fatty liver while pregnant? So worried

Hey has Anyone else had this?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and have had tests on liver during pregnancy due to a horrible viral illness last year affecting my liver.

I’m only 29 and a healthy BMI but ultrasound showed a fatty liver. I’m so scared after googling this as it comes up such bad stories on it affecting pregnancy.

has anybody else had this? Not seeing consultant for another 3 weeks. I don’t have diabetes or any other reason to cause it but I’m freaking out on the affect it could have on me and the baby.

It’s really common; most people don’t even know they have it. I have a fatty liver and found out by chance after my pregnancy. Try not to worry too much - the only thing you can do right now is eat healthily. Fatty liver can be reversed through diet and weight loss.

@OliverBabish thanks I’m going to try and cut sugar and carbs out. It’s really worried me after being on google 😫

Biggest help is to stop drinking alcohol, so presumably that’s a big tick for you straight away ☺️

@SheWoreYellow yes that’s what’s strange I never even drank before pregnancy and I’m a healthy weight an active etc it doesn’t add up. Just quite shocked when reading up on it it says it’s usually people who are overweight etc

I've just found out I'm pregnant and have fatty liver. It was diagnosed after my last pregnancy which I also developed ICP in my last pregnancy and was induced as a result.

So I'm a bit nervous about any further damage to my liver during this pregnancy
