Doctor has requested pelvic mri after ultrasound

Feelings but anxious and looking to hear from anyone who’s has a similar experience.

I had an internal ultrasound last week to investigate the source of my super heavy, excruciating periods (i have diagnosed endometriosis but it’s got markedly worse since I had my dd years ago, to the point where I’m going through a tampon/pad in an hour).

They’ve found a small ovarian cyst and a fibroid (as expected to be honest) but they’ve also found ‘something’ else in the uterus that they can’t quite identify, so they’ve requested a follow up MRI for a clearer view.

Obviously my brain has gone to the worst possible outcome (and I know no one here can diagnose) but just wondered if anyone has experience of this and it was something minor? I don’t have any irregular bleeding in between periods, no weird discharge, no pain during sex or anything like that. Just really really heavy and painful periods. I was expecting to be diagnosed with adenomyosis but am now massively freaking out 😥.

I once had a CT scan which showed a suspicious lesion on my liver so was sent for an MRI scan. It turned out to be a cyst.

It could still be a cyst or fibroid but because of where it's located in the uterus they may not have been able to see it clearly whereas the MRI will give them a more detailed view.

Thank you @Mamamia7962 that’s helpful - I’m trying not to freak out too much.

I’ve now had the scan report through though, so am trying not to Google! I wouldn’t surprise if I end up needing surgery so am trying to prepare myself

Could be a polyp. I had one which caused very heavy periods and a haemorrhage. Had it removed and all was ok.
