What can I do to stay cool whilst sleeping on a budget?

I usually put off spending money on staying cool as in typical UK style, it's short lived! Maybe I need to bite the bullet and spend some money.

But does anybody have any tips or tricks for how I can stay cool whilst sleeping? Last night was unbearable!

I grew up in a hot country - cool shower immediately before bed, go to bed with wet hair and a towel on your pillow. Cold flannel on your forehead/chest. Keep your curtains closed all day so the bedroom stays cool. Lie as still as possible while falling asleep, tossing and turning just makes you hotter (if you have a cold flannel on your chest you will have to lie still anyway).

A fan is just a few quiz. Aim it down the length of your body and sleep naked.

Make a sheet wet wring it out so it's not dripping and sleep w that on.

I freeze a hot water bottle or two (buy new ones for winter though as I imagine it can degrade them), and they're absolutely brilliant.

My fan helps massively too. Dampening your skin and letting the fan evaporate it dry cools you right down.

100% cotton bedding only. Open windows to find a cross-breeze.

If all else fails I sleep on the sofa downstairs as its cooler.

close the windows when the sun is shining in the room is a method, i havent tried

Some pharmacies sell gel pack that can be frozen but stay soft and flexible. My kids like cuddling up with one of these when it's hot!

Keep a spray bottle of cold water next to your bed. You can spray yourself with it at night if it gets unbearably hot.

Dampen a towel with cold water and use it as a blanket or to lie on.

I always keep all of the curtains closed all day.

I then have a cool shower before bed and sleep naked or with little on and have the window open so the breeze comes through.

Fans are good for short periods but I can imagine they’d be too expensive to run all night.

Cool down your wrists with a damp flannel, go to bed with wet hair, more damp flannels !
