Its the same here in Greece.If you've lived in the UK for more than 12 months since 1984 you are not allowed to give blood. I came her in 1985, have given blood many times since then but when I went to give blood 6 weeks ago for a very dear, close relative they wouldn't take it! I made quite a fuss as did patient's doctor (they were desperate for blood) but to no avail, but I was told that this is a recent EEC directive and to check again in 1 year as it will probably change.
