Repeated nausea and vomiting and diarrhoea esp around period

I wasn't sure whether to post here or in women's health.

Over the past couple of years I have had repeated episodes of vomiting and nausea. Sometimes with loose poos- not quite diarrhea.

It seems to occur mainly around my period and is really disabling for a couple of days. The most recent flare up has been the worst for a while.

Could it be a perimenopause thing? I am 42.

Seemed to all start after having Covid- wondering if that messed up my hormones.

Or is it a coincidence? And I am the only person in my house to get repeated stomach infections.

Is it associated with pain?

Do you take painkillers during your period? Things like ibuprofen can irritate the gut. If you regularly have these issues you could have gastritis.

It could also be caused by the hormonal fluctuations before and during period, which can cause nausea and vomiting.

Could be. Have you seen a doctor to rule out other things though?

Waiting to see a doctor. No- not to do with pain- as it is before my period- and I don't take pain killers then.

Was wondering if also related to stress as well. But doesn't necessarily happen when I am feeling stressed. Although a lot worse if I am feeling a bit stressed.

Following as I get the same thing. I’ve been to the GP about it but they’ve really shrugged it off. The most they’ve said is ‘hormones’ and ‘IBS’.

The nausea especially sucks but I only get to the point of vomiting about once every 4-6 months so you have my sympathy if that’s happening to you every month.

Vomiting isn't really an IBS symptom as far as I know?

I will wait and see what the GP says once I get there.
