Dear all, Dd is 20 months old and has had a temp, been off her food ( completely )sleeping more, bit listless when awake. Took her to the Drs a couple of days ago to make sure it wasn't ear infection/chest infection...all clear. He said it's probably just a virus and to bring her back if it got worse.
Well it hasn't got worse, but hasn't got any better...just wondering what the average lifespan is for this kind of thing. She's tolerating fluids Ok, but the high temp is still there. She's definately out of sorts, and I suppose I'm after some reassurance.

well, i certainly don't know either, but my 9mth dd has been having a virus too.or several. she had a stomach viral infection last week wednesday, with diarrhoea, which quickly improved after some medicine to harden the stools. but she then developed bronchiolitis on saturday, which is also a viral infection and still has it today, altho it seems to be improving after meds and 2 days of being on the nebuliser (gas mask-type thing).

i found a website the other day which has details of childrens' illnesses and incubation periods and so on, but i've forgotten what it was. will let u know once i find it again!

I think there are just so many going around at this time of the year so its hard to say exactly how long. But my dd(nearly 14mnths) has been down with a stomach bug for 10 days now and although she is much better and eating now she is still out of sorts for most of the time.

I think if the high temp continues I would call the doctor or hv and ask their opinion. I suupose all you can really do it have her in a cool room, cool clothes, calpol etc etc cool flannel. I saw something on 'This morning' yesterday about treating fevers and they mentioned these.

The best natural antiviral is Sambucol for Kids - made of Black Elderberry - if you can't find any in a local health food shop then get in contact via my ad in noticeboard (Understand & Improve Your Childs Health) and I can arrange to get some sent to you - its awesome stuff that reduces symptoms and length of virus by half.
