Mark on my breast (pics included)

dooneby · 03/07/2022 21:54

I discovered this mark around 1.5 to 2 weeks ago just above the crease on the underside of my right breast. I firstly thought it was a bruise and intermittently kept checking it but it hasn't faded or changed at all.

I think it appears to have a darker red line around the outside so I googled ringworm and thought it could be that but then I looked at it again and it's not quite as defined as the online images.

As it's not changed in nearly 2 weeks I figured I should probably make an appt with my GP. It's about the size of a 5p.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be?

Does look like ring worm

WeAllHaveWings · 03/07/2022 22:00

I would try showing photos to pharmacy and see if they think it is ringworm.

byvirtue · 03/07/2022 22:01

Are you pregnant? I got similar marks on my breast when pregnant and still have them 5 years later!

No idea what they are so will be watching this thread!

When my son had ringworm it looked exactly like that, some cream prescribed by the Dr cleared it up.

Mochalatteeyeahyaya · 03/07/2022 22:03

I get this , I get a steroid cream from docs, mine is breast eczema... I would still get it checked out though .

dooneby · 03/07/2022 22:04

Thank god you all think the same. You automatically think the worst when it's a change to your breast.

@Mochalatteeyeahyaya I have eczema elsewhere so this had also crossed my mind.

I have something very similar. I cannot remember what it's called now but, I did go to the GP as you should too. Mine was nothing sinister think it might be age related. I was initially given antibiotic cream then reviewed, no changes so GP not concerned. It has not changed but I do now have a few more.

GP said it was correct to get it checked.

Looks very like ringworm - try canesten xx

Immaterialatthispoint · 03/07/2022 23:01

Tinea versicolour or tinea rosea.

you need an anti fungal cream, or Selsun shampoo for dandruff. Rub it on in the shower, leave for a few minutes and wash it off if you use the shampoo. Otherwise just use the cream as normal.

Foronenightonly01 · 03/07/2022 23:09

I had a recurring yeast infection on mine that looked just like that! Agree with go to pharmacist first and if they’re no use ask the gp. Def not a panic situation!

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 23:09

Ringworm. Canesten (clotromizole?) should clear it .

dooneby · 04/07/2022 01:16

Thanks all for putting my mind at rest. I'll get it checked out at the pharmacist first.

I had something similar before and it turned out to be pityriasis rosea.

The so called 'herald patch' was quite large and on my breast. The rash that subsequently appeared had much larger blobs than in the pic.

ohgawdnowivedoneit · 04/07/2022 01:37

Ringworm!

LoonyIdea · 04/07/2022 01:49

Yep fungal. Think of it as Athletes Tit.

dooneby · 04/07/2022 09:48

Just been reading some more on the conditions PPs have listed here - the body sure does some weird things!

@byvirtue I hope not! I've had 2 pregnancies and this is a first.

@dooneby If it's ringworm I would check the kids over, they may have brought it home from school? Do you have any small pets or stroked anything like guinea pigs? They can also carry ringworm.

dooneby · 04/07/2022 22:57

@alrightfella We have a cat, how do you know if it's them? I'll check the kids.

Check for any fur loss on the cats.

badg3r · 04/07/2022 23:07

I had what looked exactly like this under my armpit and it was a fungal infection, it cleared up after a couple of weeks of anti fungal cream. I also had a patch on my boob and used the same fungal cream on it and it cleared up.
