Can hurting my foot cause a sudden bunion?)

I fell down some stairs early last month. Hurt my right foot and cut my big toe. Didn't need medical attention and limped for a few days and my foot went purple.

I have no pain now - only a tiny bit on occasion if I walk very fast - but suddenly - I have a more noticeable limp on my foot and it's dawned on me that it's a bunion. It's painless but it's definitely bloody there

Can they just appear after a foot injury?

Weird you post this as I've always had one but it's never bothered me too much.

Fell and ended up with a fractured ankle in the same foot and I swear within a few weeks my bunion has got bigger and hurts like a bastard Confused

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz I've always maybe had what I'd call a very slightly 'pointy' foot. Maybe like a slight bump but never painful and not noticeable really.

And suddenly .. I can see it! And my foot injury wasn't that bad but I wonder if I broke my big toe. And the sudden trauma has caused this stupid bunion thing

My sympathies to you. It's not nice

I got a bunion on one foot after an injury. Was walking barefoot and hit my foot (base of my toes) hard against a shoe that didn't move. It hurt for months then the bloody bunion appeared.

Also OP forgot to say ... sympathies to you too ... it's bad enough you've hurt yourself but for your feet to start resembling trotters too really sucks 😳
