Getting Teeth Out - Walk Me Through It

DS is getting 4 of his back teeth removed next week under general anasthetic. Could someone walk me through what will happen so as I can be prepared for it and hopefully make it easier for him.

Thanks

Ow! I had four back teeth out when I was 10, under general. It was a doddle - he won't feel a thing, but he might be a bit sore when he wakes up. He'll probably be told to swill his mouth out regularly with salt water and take some calpol if it hurts - but he should be able to eat (nothing sharp or too chewy!) within hours and back to normal within a few days.

my dd had to have 10 baby teeth taken out (no i am not a bad mum but i cant be bothered writing the whole reason down) she was only 4 at the time.

the worst part is for you as a parent having to see them go to sleep then the confusion when they wake up, the blood was minimal and they made her eat something before she came home so 2 hours after it was done she was sitting up in bed eating a bowl of rice krispies.

i dont know what your hospital will be like but ours had a tv/dvd combi next to everybed, make sure she does not eat/drink anything though. one of the nurses caught dd taking a sip of water out a bottle when we had our backs turned and it pushed the operation back another few hours.
