hospital clinic waitng times..how do you find out how long?

Yes, phone the Consultant's secretary. If she can't help speak to the Outpatient Appointments department. They will be able to tell you when the next available appointment is.

What might make a difference if if the referrals are graded before appointments are allocated. Eg you are deemed as urgent, soon or routine.

Those statistics are all well and good, but it will depend on how the wait is calculated. Some people count it retrospectively, so it's how long those who have had appointments had to wait. Some people count it prospectively, eg someone like you rings up and asks how long before they're seen. The wait is calculated to the next available appointment. The two ways of calculating them can differ, and waiting times can differ at different times of year, so often they are only correct at the time they are calculated.

Can you tell I run a waiting list? .
