Dentistry costs

I need a dentist (previously had an NHS dentist and had free dental treatment because was pregnant) but now I can't find a NHS dentist and am having to go private. I only called one place and they said their rates were:

£84 for the first visit which includes an xray and clean and general assessment.

6 month check ups were £26 without a clean

They wouldn't tell me what it would cost for a filling - said the dentist would have to tell me that based on what was required.

Do these prices seem normal, high, low? I live in West Berkshire - not sure if prices vary by county.

thanks

We charge £45 for every visit including the first, although sometimes a further visit for a clean is required (£45), depending on how much cleaning is needed. We are in Edinburgh.

Ours is £26 ish for a check up and £36 ish for a visit to Hygienist (i.e. scale and polish).
