What supplements do you take?

Which would you say really make a difference if you already have a healthy balanced diet. I eat pretty well, plenty of fruit/veg lean meat, wholemeal etc but am constantly feeling worn out. I also often feel sluggish/bloated digestively. What food changes/eliminations would you recommend and what (if any) supplements make youfeel like a brand new woman? TIA

I take selenium - have no idea if it helps but makes me feel I'm bursting with anti oxidants - oh and when I remember a Boots chewable calcium

ComeOVeneer · 14/01/2008 16:42

Yes someone mentioned selenium to me. I am really looking for (and I have no idea if such a thing/s exist) something that will fill me full of vitality and energy.

I take zinc + various vitamins (Wassen is the make), too "boost" my immune system (and apparently to keep a healty reproductive one). I have convinced myself that it is working...

i take a good quality multi-vitamin, 1000mg of vitamin c and evening primrose oil. am about to start taking some probiotics for digestion too. i, however, feel in no way like a brand new woman. more a washed up old rag

i am absolutely no expert/not qualified to advise but the digestive feelings you describe can sometimes stem from a wheat or dairy intolerance?

ArcticRoll · 14/01/2008 17:23

CoV-IF you're feeling tired Vitamin B complex and iron supplements may help.
Re feeling bloated -try reducing your wheat intake.

I take a great big whack of Omega 3 & 6 (or is it 9, can't be bothered to go and look) ....from fish not from whatever it is that is no good!

I mainly take it because there is a big history of Altzheimers (sp?) in my family and there is a lot of talk at the moment about the omegas preventing this, if taken earlier in life! It will probably turn out to be bollocks, mind you.

I also take a multi-vitamin daily, because my husband insists.

I was feeling really drained for various reasons and started taking pharmaton, they put a real spring in my step. i think i read somewhere that you chould only take them for 3 months at a time so have ahd a couple of months break but am going to take them again to boost me and get me through the rest of winter!

hectate - which are the 'no good' megas? i take flax seed oil capsules.

I also take acidophillus for bloating /
IBS and echinachea every so often.

I have to take Evening Primrose Oil each month or I will probably kill DH and anyone else who crosses my path! Also I had much more energy and vitality when I was dieting and not eating wheat and less dairy.
