Oh god I feel like I'm dying!

If I eat it gets worse.
Terrible stomach cramps
The smell is indescribable (sorry TMI)

Then I might go hours and feel fine, be able to exercise etc

Dr told me not to take Imodium as may be campylobacter

Anyone else had anything similar?
Or got any advice?

Please? Anyone?

Had it for nearly 2 weeks, turned out it was covid, so worth ruling that out. If not usual advice, stay hydrated, lots of rest and bland food if you can get it down.

TomAllenWife · 10/06/2022 21:56

Thank you

No problem eating but i haven't had bland food and it just re-irritates it

I'm drinking plenty of water and the odd rehydrate sachet

Plenty of fluids. GP told me not to bother with dioralyte etc, just chuck a spoon of sugar and salt in a pint of squash. Brat diet (bananas, rice, apple, plain toast). Mine was caused by a dodgy sandwich from a motorway service station and honestly lasted around 4 weeks. After the first week it was manageable though.

Thank you
I've stuck to very bland food for 4 days now and I feel so much better

Not a great diet just eating bread, rice, soup and salted pretzels but I'm much better

Get some good liquid probiotics to replenish your good gut bacteria as you just wiped it out.

I had something similar a few weeks ago, after 10 days it finally calmed down although for a couple of weeks after I'd have cramps still. I could keep
Water down/in but food was a different matter. Doctor advised me to take pepto bismol as it was likely bacterial, but otherwise she said to stay hydrated and just get through it. Pepto bismol did nothing to help in all honesty. I got through a lot of hydration drinks though which at least made me feel a little bit more human. It was horrible, never had a stomach bug like it, I lost a lot of weight and it wasn't worth the 10 days of misery!

howoriginal · 14/06/2022 18:47

Oh also remembered that I drank some probiotic yoghurts for the last couple of days of the bug and I had a green juice thing specifically for stomach issues and got better. But this could easily just be pure coincidence.

Do you have the intense pain above the ribs? That’s what led me to the Dr and diagnosed with campylobacter, but no diaorrhea.
