What sheer fuckery is this - ITCHY BITS!

Name changed!

Ive suffered for while now with anal fissures since having children. I had it all under control for a little while and got some amazing cream for the doctors which was helping.

A few weeks ago I developed piles (yay) which were thrombosed and really bloody uncomfortable. I called the doctor again and he gave me some suppositories, and said if they keep bleeding and don’t go away to call back this week.

It would seem this weekend I have developed some sort of yeast infection. I went and bought some Caneston and applied that.

The itchiness of that combined with everything else is sheer hell!! I’m wearing loose shorts to bed, cotton underwear, taking sitz baths and nothing is touching it. It’s waking me up at night it’s driving me mad. It’s making my legs itch, arms itch like it’s having a knock on effect!

Although I’ve had various pessaries and creams slotted up there like I’m a fruit machine, I just want a doctor to look at my arse.

Do you think I should call them back and ask? Never before have I wanted someone to look at my arse, but shitty hell (literally) this is grim

Piles give me an awful itch. You need to use the pile cream on your anus, along with the suppositories.
I find mine worse in warm weather.

KangarooKenny · 06/06/2022 06:50

And maybe try an antihistamine if the itching is spreading.
I had an allergic reaction to one of the pile, creams.

Mindymomo · 06/06/2022 06:54

Yes, I think you need to be seen by doctor, might be an infection that needs antibiotics. Canesten treats fungi infection, but yours could be bacterial. The itching is odd, maybe a reaction to Canesten.

Badlifeday · 06/06/2022 07:02

I thought I had piles and turned out to have pinworms. They are very itchy. I know, yuk. If you have a small child in the house it's a possibility!

Itchysterical · 06/06/2022 07:26

I think I’ll do an econsult and see what they recommend.

The kids are 10 & 12 @Badlifeday but I guess anything is possible.

Between me and the dog (skin allergies) we’re a right pair this morning 🤣😩

It could be Lichen Sclerosis. Google it and see if it matches your symptoms.

AGreatUsername · 06/06/2022 07:27

I can’t help on the piles front but I react horrifically to Canestan cream, it makes the itch ten times worse. I have to use thrush internal treatment now if I get it.

forlornlorna1 · 06/06/2022 07:29

I'm another who reacts to canesten.
I use flucanosole tablet instead. You can buy it over the counter. And definitely try an anti histamine too to make you more comfortable. Hope you get it sorted

Look at this
Took me 3 years and about 6 different creams prescribed by the doctor to get a diagnosis

But also try Lamisil spray- in a tiny spray bottle. Clears up fungal infections really quickly.

Canestan bothers me too but gp prescribed a brill cream called Timodine which worked really quickly.

TheRoadToRuin · 06/06/2022 13:41

Try antihistamine for some relief.
Get out of the itch / scratch cycle.
Don't put anything in the bath, don't use soap or any creams other than a moisteriser like diprobase.

Itchysterical · 06/06/2022 15:11

Hmm - not quite the outcome I was expecting.

I got a call earlier to ask me to go in for an exam this afternoon. He checked everything and said it looks like something for the colorectal surgeon to take a look at, and has referred me for an urgent appointment at the hospital.

He said I’d need a camera inserted - whelp 🫤

He said it could be many things, possibly a skin tag from a bad tear with DS1…possibly Botox could heal it….possibly you could have bum surgery….

I did ask if I could have some Botox on my face as well - whilst my arse was hanging out - he didn’t even scoff at my pathetic attempt to make a joke 😬

Botox could heal a skin tag? Wrong. Botox is for fissures, residual skin tags can only go if they are surgically removed.

Nc58985 · 06/06/2022 20:52

@Itchysterical i have just been through this - you could be describing me. I think I tried everything you mentioned before going to GP. Also got the urgent Colorectal referral. Mine was a combination of internal piles, skin tags and anal psoriasis (how grim does that sound?!). I got booked in for a haemorrhoid removal and referred to a dermatologist.

Dermatologist prescribed two strong steroid creams and within two weeks the itching had totally gone and I ended up cancelling the surgery. I still have the piles and tags but they don’t really bother me now.

You have my full sympathy - the itching is just awful. I never slept as it was so uncomfortable and used to scratch myself red raw as weirdly the pain was slightly more tolerable to the itching…

hope you get an answer soon x

Itchysterical · 07/06/2022 06:35

Thanks @Nc58985 that’s reassuring. I got a call yesterday saying that I’m booked in next Wednesday at the hospital x

@Itchysterical how did you get on? Am currently in agony with thrombosed pile or possible abcess.

Haggisfish3 · 08/08/2022 23:02

Just for info for others, I went to gp who confirmed it’s a thrombosed pile.

Bindayagain · 09/08/2022 08:27

Yikes. Hope you can get some treatment, that sounds awful Flowers

MistyRock · 09/08/2022 08:41
