About 25 years ago, when I was 16, I noticed a lump on the underside of my breast. Smaller than a pea, hard, and moved with the skin. My GP diagnosed it as a cyst and froze it off.

I was always conscious that it left a mark but never really took too much notice just because of where it was, and I guess because I was so young at the time.

Lately, I’ve been thinking that what I’ve attributed to being a mark from that procedure may actually be a mole and I just assumed it was from the cyst, as they were in the same area.

Looking at it more closely, it’s a purple-blue colour (much bluer than the picture shows), irregular shape but no dark spots, about 2mm, and it’s raised slightly. No pain or anything. I haven’t been monitoring it for long enough to know if it’s changing shape.

I had treatment for another condition last year and had lots and lots of blood tests- would melanoma be picked up via blood tests?

I know the advice for moles is always to get them checked, and I will, but I’m just wondering if I should push for an emergency GP appointment and referral, or if anyone has/had a similar mole and learned it was nothing to worry about?

Sorry for the bad pics, it was an awkward angle, and that flash is doing nothing for the faint hairs! There’s no dimpling around the skin or anything- my skin is marked in the picture as I’d just taken off my bra.

I've no medical experience, but do have a lot of moles and I would be worried and want a referral. I think you should see a doctor sooner rather than later.

Had it changed or does it bleed? It's not got regular edges so that would be a reason to get it checked. I just had a mole removed they'll probably just refer you to a clinic at hospital and you should be checked within 2 weeks and they look at it under a little magnifier glass thing and will probably be able to tell them and there x

I would get it checked out because you're worried and so why not put your mind at rest or get something done about it?

Having said that, I've got a ton of cherry angiomas on my breasts, back, stomach and some of them are quite purplish and irregular (generally max 5mm in size and mostly smaller). That kind of looks like a wee vascular thing to me rather than a mole. Still get it checked out though obviously because I'm no dermatologist and what is normal for me might not be for you.

Thanks everyone.

I'll definitely get it checked-out to be on the safe side.

@ditalini, I’ve never heard of cherry angiomas. From googling, they look exactly like what I have so I’m feeling much more reassured now.
