My daughter has woken up with a very red and swollen eyelid, she feels fine in herself but unable to open her eye for long periods.

ive been to out of hours this morning and they have said to continue with cream and a hot compress. We’ve been doing both for a month due to styes on her other eye, and they’re still reoccurring.

is there anything else we can be doing? I feel awful and so sorry for her poor eye, looks so sores

Well, take your doctor's advice but I soothed my recurrent styes with cold compresses using chilled chamomile tea-bags. BIG but: the tea bags must be unbleached. I used Dr Stuart's. I found hot compresses made them worse. Only my experience I hasten to add.

If it's blepharitis, buy an eye bag. I found it effective.

Fish oils definitely help too!

It’s quite common for styes to cause an eye infection. As she is having constant eye issues for now over a month, Id ask for referral to a hospital ophthalmologist. There may be something else going on and the constant styes/swollen eyelids are a side effect of it.
