Cerazette - pill from hell??

I'm hoping someone has had some experience taking the progesterone only pill and can share their experience please!

I've been taking it for around three weeks now. The first couple of weeks I felt absolutely fine. Bleeding and spotting but that was to be expected. So happy and thought I had finally found the pill for me. Can't take any others because I have migraines.

Third week - AWFUL. Terrible spots on my face, a tension headache that won't go away, dizziness and severe anxiety to the point where I'm not wanting to leave the house.

This is pretty much my final hurdle with the pill so I am really desperate for this to improve. I will get the coil if necessary but really, really wanted this to work out for me. Sad

Has anyone else had these symptoms on this pill? Thanks in advance!

I had pretty much continuous bleeding on it so gave up after about 6 months. Don't think I had other issues but that was enough.

I just wanted to add my two cents, as i spent A LOT of time on here and elsewhere reading horror stories when I started Cerazette.

I was on it for a few years in my 20s and it was pretty good, fully stopped my periods, but did give me some spots and maybe affected my moods a little but nothing significantly worse than my PMS without.

I went back on it 3 or so months ago and was in a bit of a panic - i was bleeding a lot on some days, and spotting a lot on others (and had just started seeing someone new so was in a real flap). However it actually settled pretty quickly - within a month/6 weeks or so. I get some very very mild (and dark) spotting occasionally now. For me, taking Tranexamic Acid when i was bleeding a lot stopped it quickly, but I’m not sure if that’s for everyone.
My skin’s been fine, I haven’t gained weight - in fact I’ve lost some - and my moods are a little off, but again, could be anything.

No idea if it made a difference, but I have been pretty religious about taking it at the exact same time every day as I heard that helps mitigate things.

As I say, I read a lot of horror stories that really fuelled my panic at the beginning - and I know a lot of women do struggle with this pill - but for me, and for most people I know on it, it was worth waiting it out a little while.

Cerazette is my lifesaver pill and I've often said it will have to be prised out of my cold dead hands.

Before Cerazette, I had heavy, painful periods lasting up to 10 days and leaving me bedridden, vomiting and hallucinating. At any time of tge month, I'd experience horrific mood swings and would scare myself with the level of rage I felt. Other pills gave me headaches but Cerazette fixed me right up from day one. It was as if the real me had been pulled to the surface and I felt happier and healthier than ever before. My career has gone from strength to strength in the time i've been taking this pill, which i put down to the fact I don't have a terrible sick-leave record and no longer shy away from taking on any responsibility because i'll likely be too unwell to see it through. In almost 13 years I've not bled at all and not experienced any mood swings. I did put weight on quite quickly and still struggle to maintain a healthy weight but I'm happy to pay that price in order to never go back to the life I had previously.

I think all this goes to show that it's a bloody powerful little pill and that power can be harnessed positively for some but will really mess up others- i guess it depends what kind of underlying hormonal system it goes into and, let's face it - we're unlikely to ever see proper research into women's bodies in this way.

I ended up suicidal on Cerazette! But my sister loved it. It's such a pot luck of what your body will or won't accept.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 30/12/2022 10:08

I absolutely love it, I’ve been on it for more than a decade, I haven’t had a period in all that time, no spots or mood swings or anything else, it’s worked brilliantly for me!

This thread is very old! @housemaus I had written on this thread in June under another name (forgot my login) that it made me suicidal also!
@Clerk28 yep that's your 2 cents and everyone reacts differently to different medication but I have helped a few people from feeling very low in mood/ paranoid/anxious because not once has professionals suggested the way they are feeling could be due to hormonal contraception. They are very quick to prescribe other medications to try and help these symptoms.
Once they have stopped it the symptoms have gone! My own nurse laughed at me when I said it was this pill that made me suicidal and I wanted to change. It was weird because as soon as I stopped it, a massive cloud was lifted!

I have never felt suicidal in my life.... but I had it all planned out... that if my husband died after going in for a routine procedure... I knew exactly what I was going to do... how... when.. etc. My parents and my in laws were concerned about me as I was a bag of nerves and looked dreadful.
I had a moment of clarity thinking what on earth am I doing? This is ridiculous!?
I hadn't told anyone until afterwards and about the pill.

Was this heavy bleeding?
