He's 9 months old and had a temperature of just over 100 on Thursday. He spent most of the day in just a nappy, being washed down with a wet flannel to get his temperature down and eventually it worked, also with the help of Calpol and Neurofen.
He also has a horrible cough and has coughed so much that he has made himself sick the other night.
He's been waking in the night(doesn't normally) and after a feed and a cuddle, going back down ok and has a constant runny nose too.
Yesterday I gave him and ds1(has it also!)some Medised and he seemed much better. He didn't cough much last night but this morning he still has the runny nose and a slight temperature. He happily had his milk and some fruit puree for breakfast but wouldn't touch his porridge.
Just wondering whether I should take him to our gp tomorrow or leave it while longer and see how he is,especially if it's just a bad cold.
Thanks.

that will probably be crp or wcc count that is 300. It is sign of infection and may sound ridiculously high but this is common with infection. Soon goes back to normal after treatment.

Hope both feeling better soon,

Yes,it did sound rather alarming and the doctor said it was a sign of infection so hopefully the antibiotics will now kick in and bring it down.Would have been happier though,if he hadn't have told me about the numbers.

don't worry (difficult i know!) it does usually come down quickly with antibiotics. it sounds like a bacteria rather than virus as antibiotics don't touch viruses. hope all ok must be tough on you

how are things?

I spent most of yesterday at the hospital and he still hadn't eaten or drunk anything.By the time I left though,he'd had a few sips of juice. They've taken him off the drip as they wanted him mobile and he actually spent most of the day on the play room with the toys and painting.Dh phoned me last night to say he'd drunk 2 cartons of apple juice, had a fruit pot and was eating a packet of crisps.
The doctor said if it continues he can come home today.

Ds2 is also much better. He hasn't been sick for 2 days, isn't coughing as much and is sleeping back through the night. He went to bed at 7pm last night and is still fast asleep now.
