I was quite surprised to see these results in my bloods. Waiting for GP to call. Just wondered if anyone else had experience with similar levels and what to expect? I assume supplements, maybe injections?

I've felt like crap for ages but to be honest just assumed I was tired, depressed and not that healthy. Sort of excited to think if I get treatment I will feel "normal" again soon!

My folate was 0.3! A year of 5mg and it's up to 10 now.

Anonnnnnnm · 21/05/2022 14:56

@Beachsidesunset blimey that's low! Glad you're getting sorted. Has it improved how you feel??

I’d love to know what they give you OP. Mine are 136 and 3.93 and I’ve been told that’s fine. No further action required 🙄.

I have all the symptoms of a B12 deficiency.

Anonnnnnnm · 21/05/2022 15:07

@Em8725 I'm no doctor but surely with symptoms and literally now B12 in your bloods surely they should offer more help. Get a second opinion. Lots of awful GP's around these days sadly. You have to make noise.

My b12 was 17. I was very poorly, but it happened so slowly I didn't realise how ill until I started to get better.
By the time I started injections my hands couldn't grip anything and I couldn't hold a conversation!

Em8725 · 21/05/2022 15:10

They sent me back for a repeat test and the results were 152 and 3.46. Because both tests were “close to the limit” they've said they don’t need to do anything. I’m at a one GP practice so nowhere else will give me a second opinion. I’ve given up with it now - I hope your GP is on the ball and gets you some treatment.

Anonnnnnnm · 21/05/2022 15:21

@LunaLoveFood whoooooah. That's so bad. So glad you're ok and recovered!!

@Em8725 please google the Pernicious Anaemia Society. You might not have PA but you are seriously deficient and you need B12. Neurological symptoms have a window of being reversed by B12 supplementation or they risk being permanent. you must feel awful poor thing

Em8725 · 23/05/2022 21:01

@alwaysontheloo i emailed my GP over the weekend. He’s done me another blood form which I’ll book tomorrow. You lot brought my fight back, Thankyou! Hopefully they’ll do something, even if I’m borderline. I told them my memory is horrific and I’m permanently exhausted, even after a full 8 hours sleep.

Anonnnnnnm · 24/05/2022 09:08

@alwaysontheloo mine is 132 and 2.5 and I'm so tired and I feel like I almost have mild Alzheimer's, all makes so much sense now I know about this! Still waiting for dr to bother to get in touch. Hopefully I don't get fobbed off.

@LunaLoveFood how are you now and what were your symptoms please? As this is exactly how I am

Lilxa89 · 26/03/2025 07:10

@Anonnnnnnm how's things now? My folate was low 4 months back at 2.4 and b12 was 296 which they said was normal. I just had them retested yesterday so waiting on new results. I done a vit d home test which showed deficiency so that that tested yest too, also waiting on results. I've felt awful. I was on ppis for a while and wondering if that has part of it. But my memory is awful, blurred vision, can't focus. Constantly exhausted, feel weak and achey all over, very forgetful. I feel like sometimes my body is shutting down and panic :( x
