Norovirus, come and talk to me

Just that really- need company whilst currently lying on the bathroom floor in a groaning mess with the worst stomach cramps and not sure which end it's going to come out of next; got my daughter's sandcastle bucket as the toilet isn't near enough to the sink Confused

Tell me about your norovirus stories please- how long did it last? Was it awful? I've caught this off my 20 MO who had it last weekend from nursery and had it since Wednesday - had a brief spell yesterday of no S&D so stupidly ate a few oven chips last night and now seriously regretting that decision.

Hi! I'm currently awake. My 8 year old started throwing up 11pm last night and has been vommiting, dry heaving and having diarrhea since 😔. Norovirus is doing its rounds!

Long time ago but I once got it on a school family camping trip, 4 kids. After puking several times behind the tent, and lying outside of said tent on the floor, I felt so ill, I decided I would drive 30 mins home with my two youngest (2.5 years and 1.5 years), leaving two oldest with their Dad on camp. Had to stop the car to throw up again, got home, and whereas I did the basics of care for them, it was not my finest hour of parenting. 24 hours and the worst was over (please hang on to this if you are going through it). So we all survived it, but it was horrible, and I think I would have done it differently if I had my time again.

Ah, sounds rotten! I had it before Xmas and I'd say it was v bad for about 12 hours in terms of frequency and then eased up over the following 12. By 36 I was pretty much okay, just knackered. Hope it passes for you quickly!

I had noro for almost a week once. Was awful but before kids so stayed in bed with a bucket when not sitting on the toilet. Remember the feeling if not being sure which way out would come first. Noro is awful, get well soon.

Oh love, it's so bloody grim. One year, we had a strain that lasted nigh on a week. It was horrific. DP had to put a tarp down on the living room carpet because the kids were tiny and no way were they making it to the loo or a bucket to be sick. I put down fleecy blankets on top that I could scoop up and fling straight into the washing machine.
All you can do is ride the damn thing out and make sure everyone has plenty of fluids

I thought I had norovirus a few weeks ago. Apparently it was gastroenteritis and I had it for 2 weeks! It was horrid, they wouldn't give me any antibiotics till I'd been suffering horrendously for 10 days

I used to work at an outward bound school residential place with 300 bed capacity. I was duty manager over a weekend. On the Friday we had two cases, by the Sunday we'd had 80, some from the school that had brought it with them but they also passed it on to other schools and then ofcourse my staff. It was awful, we had to turn a wing of the building and three dorms into quarantine dorms, mixing the schools. The children were too ill to go home as the journey was too far and we had to ride it out.

@DiscontentedWoman the part about having to put tarps on the floor has made me chuckle, the things you have to do! Grin

Thanks for cheering me up with your stories ladies, finally crawled back into bed around 4 then a few 'close to the cloth' dashes back to the loo! Nibbles on biscuits for today I think.

Feeling you OP, had this in Feb. All you can do is ride it out.
Showers and clean PJs were my way of making me feel clean and a bit better.
I still can't stomach the idea of toast though, my dp who kindly passed it on to me, was a few days ahead so back to eating but the smell just made me throw up even more.
