I was on here recently concerned that dd1 hadn`t started her period yet and at nearly 16 she did start last night.
I was prepared to the extent that she would bleed though.
When i started it was just really light (i mean hardly anything ) for months.
DD however is off school and having her second bath already. She is soaking through pads about every half an hour and its literally running out of her.
I am reassurring her snd given her some paracetamol and clean everything.
Is it normal for the first one to be so heavy ?
Cheers x

Thanks, Vole - I'm sick to death of throwing out perfectly good bed linen!

dd1 was the same when she started hers a few months ago aged 15.5,it was really heavy, to the point she had to miss school, and kept soaking her knickers and sheets

she has had a couple more since then and it hasnt been as bad, so hopefully it will settle, mind you she isnt regular either, but it's all pretty normal when you first start

i was a late starter, nearly 16, when i had my first period it was very heavy. i soaked through a folded towel and dressing gown because my dad was in the bath and i was too embarrassed to tell my mum what was happening and .......my subsequent periods weren't as heavy as that, but they were very irregular.
i'm pleased she can talk to you about it, it took me a long time to get to grips with the whole thing because i had no-one to share it with.
