Dd and her toe nail!

Hiya,
Dd (2) has a thick (iykwim)toe nail. It is on her smallest toe, and has been like that for a long time.
Doctor isn't concerned about it, but I am wondering what can cause it?

Thanks

Could be a fungal infection, I'd take her to a chiropodist to be sure.

Put a little tea tree oil on it - will not harm it and if it is fungal will clear it up. May be though that her shoes are rubbing against her toe - this would thicken up the nail.

Have seen army boot shoe nails they are really thick. Where the boots were to big slightly the nail constantly rubbed against the end of the boot and makes the nail thicker.

So make sure that there are no seems in her shoes, that the shoes fit well around her little toes aswell as the length and get her feet measured regular to be on the safe side.
