Have always had a few problems with skin - wasnt too bad as a teenager, but spots etc came in 20s and alwas had some, when pg skn improved, but spots on face and back etc returned with a vengance. Went to drs the other week and was given strong cream which doesnt seem to be doing a lot - sort of dries up the skin around it, but ten another appears .... she mentioned anti-biotics (long term course) or pill. Cant remember either of their names, and dont really knwo what i think about this as hope to have another dc in next couple of years and had an odd system anyway - but getting a bit fed up with my teenage skin... anyone any thoughts, ideas or experiences of this? Thanks

Dianette is the pill that's good for skin problems - it helped me for years and I had no trouble getting pregnant as soon as I stopped taking it. I would certainly reccomend it.

It's not a forever solution though as you're only supposed to take it for a couple of years. Tried the antibiotic thing once I could no longer take Dianette but found they didn't help much and am now on a course of Roaccutane. It seems to be doing the trick - I just hope the effects last once I come off it! But you MUST NOT become pregnant on Roaccutane or get pregnant within so many months of taking it as it can cause severe birth defects. Try searching the archives there have been lots of threads on this.

Thanks for this Sugarmagnolia

Dianette was the name of the pill she mentioend - I had forgotten its name so couldnt search too specifically!

Yes, my thinking is that some of these things might be great a work when on the tablets but it will come back worse when i come off them! Good nes about this one though if it got things under control for you.
