Spots around mouth, not Coldsores?

Can anyone advise please. I've been battling with an outbreak of spots either side of my mouth for the past month. I'm using Coldsore treatment but it isn't touching it, if anything it is spreading it. Plus they aren't itchy like Coldsores and they don't scab over the same (I do occasionally get them, usually stress or sun related).

It seems to start to go but then another white head spot appears, and another.

As you can see I have quite deep lines from my mouth, I do drool during the night (oh the glamour!)

My GP is a nightmare to get in to see, but is obviously my next port of call. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas. It's getting me down as it looks awful.

(if it helps I'm 43)

I'd say it was down to the drooling. Could you try Vaseline at night to form a barrier over the spotty area?

Dudds · 30/04/2022 10:57

I can try that, it just seems like it spreads when I apply the Coldsore cream so would worry about the vaseline doing the same. I suppose if I apply it with a cotton bud and make sure it doesn't go further, that could work.

Thanks for your reply.

Possibly Angular cheilitis? Especially if you tend to drool. If so, an anti fungal cream might help.

Looks like angular cheilitis to me. Daktarin gel should help.

It does look like Angular Chelitis OP. There can be an underlying cause for this. Do you have any other symptoms?
Have you had a Full Blood Count FBC or B12 & Folate recently? There's a possibility of anemia.

I am so run down at the moment and sent a request last week to my GP about possible menopause symptoms as have been having awful symptoms. So yes, I was hoping to get blood tests as am permanently exhausted - seems like you have hit the nail on the head.

Thank you for all your replies and help. I'll call the gp and chase up an appointment x
