Post illness: exhaustion and nausea, anyone else got this?

I have had the vomiting thing and then a chest infection in the last 6 weeks. Coupled with moving house and country twice last year, a new baby, and two DS, I think I have been burning the candle at both ends. However, I keep getting these horrible recurring hangovers, when I haven't had anything alcholic to drink for weeks! Really crushingly horrible nausea, sometimes throw up, the runs, inability to function or even sleep. Have to lie in bed until 11, dozing but acutely conscious of feeling dreadful. At about 11, it clears and I am left feeling wobbly and pale, but able to continue as SAHM.
Has anyone else had this? I am at my wits end as to what I can do. I have to be able to function in order to look after 3 DS. Nothing seems to work, not alka setzer, eating a banana, drinking warm apple juice (all the usual hangover cures).
And I am definitely NOT pg. This is actually a lot worse than any morning sickness I have ever had.

That sounds exactly like i feel when I have an inflamed stomach/digestive system, for whatever reason..I find Pepto Bismol and Alka Seltzer XS are really helpful. I also get bouts of this for no apparent reason, it seems like my tum just likes to be irritable sometimes.

and I don't mean to downplay it..when my stomach is inflamed I feel acutely horrible too!

Thank you for your reply Herecomethegirls. So I am not the only one, thank goodness. I am beginning to feel like one of those people who imagines they are ill. I will try the Pepto Bismol and Alka Seltzer XS (I just have the normal one).

HCTG, Thought you might like to know that I have just been treated for Giardia, a parasitical infection of the upper gut, with a three day course of antibiotics and I feel much better.

Eldestgirl - mind if I butt in and ask how they diagnosed giardia? I've had 7 episodes since just before Xmas which sound like similar symptoms to yours, see my other thread

Just recovering from the latest one and am at my wits end - I just can't look after 2 young kids feeling like this I'm waiting for urine/stools/blood results but fear they're going to be inconclusive...

Thanks in anticipation!

eldestgirl: I had glandular fever a year ago and felt like this after. I was exhausted all the time, apparantly I was waking up from my sleep because acid was going into my throat from my stomach, i'd not remember because I went back to sleep. You need to see your GP.
