Itchy gum after tooth extraction, cold foods and mouthwash ok?

Had tooth extraction earlier this week.

I feel completely well in myself, and haven’t need painkillers beyond the 12 hours or so after having it removed. No temperature, no pain, no excessive tiredness.

But my gum is a bit itchy where I had it done. I know this is normal. I don’t want to keep taking painkillers, so I’m biting on cold fruit like watermelon and cucumber and drinking cold water, and also using mouthwash every few hours.

Is this ok? I don’t want an infection so don’t want to do anything to aggravate it. It was a wisdom tooth removal if that makes a difference.
