So a few weeks ago I had what I think is this mystery head/chest cold everyone’s getting. I was so sure it was Covid but never got a positive. Fast forward and I still have a sore throat, it almost went but is now ramping up again. It’s weird it starts getting bad around 8pm each night. There’s some redness when I look with a light. The pain and redness isn’t severe so don’t think tonsillitis, any one else have this??

How are you now @Cocothebear?

DS has had exactly the same - sore throat went away and has now come back. He doesn't have tonsils so it's not that but he's in a lot of pain.

After I had Covid I had a sore throat for weeks. I would think it was getting better, then it would be back. Also worse in evenings and mornings. Never had that before, but it seems it can happen! It got worse again when I got another cold, it all fine now :)

Have you tried a salt water gargle before bed and a couple of times a day? Viruses and bacteria usually hate saline conditions, and the saline can help a little with healing too.

It's so cheap and easy it's the first thing I would try. Always with sea salt or salt from a salt grinder though, because regular table salt usually has anti-caking agent in it too and I don't want that.

Also keep some well-watered pot plants at home, because dry air makes sore throats feel worse, and the pot plants will help keep humidity at a comfortable level.

This is really similar to what's happened to me lately although it's with a recurring dry cough not throat.
Everyone in our house has just been so run down with one thing after another.

Seven weeks after positive covid test, still have a sore throat and intermittently losing my voice. V annoying.
