Hi. Just wondering if anyone has had similar and can tell me what the diagnosis was.
Back in December I began hearing a low frequency vibrating noise. I was convinced it was a nearby lorry engine. It kept me awake all night but nobody else could hear it. I eventually twigged that it was tinnitus! I could hear the sound in my right ear but if I put my finger in my left ear it reduced the sound in my right. Very odd. It lasted a few days and I brushed it off as nothing. Since then it has occurred another three times and lasted longer each time. It is preceded by my hearing reduced in my right ear for a few days and as soon as that starts to resolve the tinnitus reappears. I’ve just had it again, but repeatedly over the past two weeks, with two days reduced hearing and 5 days of tinnitus, then reduced hearing again and then tinnitus, only this time I had a sharp sudden pain in my ear yesterday and the tinnitus disappeared. I have had some mild and sporadic sharp pains in my ear since then but hearing is fine and no tinnitus. I can’t think of any external trigger so I’m wondering if it’s a problem with my eardrum. I phoned for a GP appointment a week ago whilst the tinnitus was pretty bad, but could only get a telephone appointment and that’s not for another week...and obviously they can’t see in my ear down the phone!
Anyone had anything similar?
