Anyone's DH had a vasectomy?

DH saw the doctor today for his persistent cough and while he was at it asked about vasectomy.
Apparently it is practically impossible to get it done here (in France).
Just wondering how it works in the UK. How easy is it to get one? Is it covered on the NHS?

yes, dead easy, DH jsut went and asked, got appointment, no hassle (other than recognising the nurse assisting as the mother of a pupil he taught )

Dh is booked in to have it done at a local health clinic this week on the NHS - a simple referral from the GP was aLl that was needed.

there is small wait for nhs but if he goes private - practically same week - costs under 300 quid

Thanks. Interesting to know it is so easy to get hold of across the channel.

Of course he'd have to go private because we haven't been in the UK system for the last 7 years.

Time for us to discuss it properly..... We've not really talked seriously about it before. I'm happy with making sure we don't have any more kids but vasectomy seems a bit drastic!

My dh has had it done. He felt minor discomfort and sat with a bag of peas wrapped in a towel on his "bits". He had it done on a Friday afternoon, managed to get the bus home and collect dd from school! He was back at work on the Monday.
