My dd2 has had this twice, first time really rather poorly with very high temp and red cheeks and no energy, very whingy. Didnt pass it on to 6 year old sister(she was 3) Next time same but less severve.
Dont know how it would affect a little baby or if dd2 would catch it at all sorry
Hope she doesnt and DD1 gets better soon x

Hi mailpolish, there is an information leaflet about slapped cheek here . You should keep dd away from pregnant women if you think it's slapped cheek. I'll have a look for a photo for you.

HTH.

There's a photo on here (scroll down a bit).

thanks! the photo of the cheeks looks similar.

charliecat, did your dd have diahorrea? did she have a sore throat and cough? sorry about all the quetions. and how long was she ill for? did she have a rash on her body cos dd1 doesnt. dd1 doesnt seem to have any less energy, though.

i suppose it doesnt really matter if its specifically this virus cos there is no treatment, just its good to know.

No rash on body, slightluy raised bumps when at her worst, 4-5 days she was ill for.
Actually dd is always less energetic when she is ill with anything and shes had bloodtests to see if we can figure out why..so that may not be a symptom it could just be her!
Dont recall diahorrea at all, sore throat yes and no cough.

charliecat · 21/11/2004 23:59

Hmmm it says you develop an immunity to it, she didnt, unless theres another reson for bright red cheeks out of the blue. I just assumed it was it again but it wasnt as bad...Id swear it was actually!

thanks charlie!

feel bit better now.

i think some children are less energetic when they are ill cos they feel sorry for themselves and just want to curl up til it goes away. dd1 on the other hand tries to do everything as normal and then goes in a bad mood cos she cant!
