Weird virus - anyone else had it?

For the past few days I've had the following set of symptoms:

  • headache
  • thirst/dehydration
  • chills
  • queasy tummy
  • loose bowels/wind
  • mild nausea
  • loss of appetite
  • lightheaded

It's mostly felt like a bad hangover. It's easing off now but it's been a strange one. One of my colleagues has had exactly the same symptoms, yet I've not seen him in person for a few weeks. He said he's spoken to a few people who seem to have very similar symptoms.

Just wondered whether anyone else has experienced this?

i have had tummy and nausea issues
negative covid lfts
so perhaps tummy bug

I had a headache, nausea, no appetite, chills and very lightheaded for about 4 days. I felt "off" for over a week.
Tested negative LFT for 7 days straight then stopped testing when I felt better

MRSAHILL · 09/04/2022 13:16

@somethinghere that's exactly how I feel.

I work in Paeds and we are so so busy right now because so many different viruses are circulating. Covid is absolutely one of them and is rife in kids and adults but yes others like flu ( really late in season but lots of cases) rsv, by other viral respiratory or chest infections and of course lots of d&v it feels like winter tbh.

@MRSAHILL

How are you today OP? I've just found your thread as I've been searching for these same symptoms as I'm experiencing them too. I've been like this for just over a week now and keep testing negative.
I'm almost fine now thanks, just still a slight dehydration/headache. I've also had a negative LFT. Given that it started suddenly on Wednesday and is now almost gone, plus I'm testing negative, I'm inclined to think it's been something else.

I've had all the above apart from the chills, but have felt cold! Was honestly starting to wonder if I was pregnant (DP and I aren't trying but have gone without contraception recently, though it was right before my period WAS due, I'm now late). It's not nice, I'm a bit puzzled by it all! I don't feel "ill" otherwise, it's strange

Without a doubt there will be covid variants that aren’t detected by our tests but omicron isn’t one of them and most of our current cases are omicron (or sister of omicron).

There are loads of horrible viruses around and covid is just one of them. Our bodies often react in a similar way to a virus attacking which is why how one person felt with covid could be how another one feels with flu or another virus.

Get well soon, OP. Whatever it is you have, there are lots of unpleasant bugs and it’s how your body reacts and you recover that’s important.

Thank you. I do generally feel on the mend. It just felt like a slightly unusual virus (neither cold nor vomiting) and it struck me as interesting that several other people seemed to have the exact same symptoms too. But reading that back, that's how viruses work...

Hope everyone else feels better soon too!
