I am way way overweight, my mum is too(we dont live together its just nurse knows her o we discussed us both), she has diabetes and i was concerned so have been checked today..i dont have it..however, its basically a given that if i carry on as i am, i will turn into my mum..
have been and bought certain vitamins today (she also has osteoarthritis(sp) )and nurse has given me booklets on health and invited me to go back in couple of weeks to see her so she can have a longer talk with me.
She weighed me and said right now shes not botherd what i wiegh, just that it comes down next time>.

So........myself and my dp eat total crap, my dd eats much better but still some of the stuff we eat, my mindees(im a cm, eat well like my daughter, plenty of fresh fruit/veg/chciken etc etc).but i want to steer away from ready meals now which clog up my freezer, i dont have lots of cash and even less spare time, but i am prepared to start making more of an effort with our food.
thing is my dd is used to more processed food how do i get her(shes 4 almost 5) onto eating plainer/less crappy foods?...she does like plain pasta and seems to eat much healthier at school, but im thinking fish(no crumb/batter) and the like and also does anyone have any ideas for easy quick things i can make for us as a family that are tasty and not like dieting?

Any help at all will be really appreciated as i cant do this for me or my dd any longer

thanks for that sidge!..we have all taken a leaf out of their book tonight..dd ate lots at school lunch today(plain pasta, salmon, bread, cheese and ham...followed by a choc muffin) and was still stuffed at dinner time, i had eaten fresh tomato's sliced and grilled on toast with sprinkle of grated cheese for my lunch but that was 2.15pm, so i wasnt hungry either.so(dp didnt get a choice) we all had cheese and beans on toast!.i know cheese needs to be cut down as im a kingsize mouse!, but it wasnt a lot as it was grated over our beans on toast, no butter on the toast and it was lovely!
mentioned the slow cooker to dp, he thinks its something else ill stick in the back of the cupboards!, like the blender and the toasty maker and george foreman i ended up giving my mum

But am going to see if supermarket sellfrozen fish fillets(cod/haddock) like they do with chicken breast, so i can take a piece out at a time and cook with no skin/batter/breadcrumb...think dd will go for it?, certainly worth a try?

I make a great fish pie (if I may say so myself ) that even fussy DD1 eats.

Buy frozen fillets of fish and simmer gently in some milk (you can use semi-skimmed) until falling apart. Make a cheese sauce, or you can use mushroom soup if you prefer, and flake the fish into the sauce in an ovenproof dish. Make sure it's not too runny. Mix in some peas, sweetcorn and whatever else you fancy and top with mashed potato. You can crumble some cheese and onion crisps over the top if you fancy. Bake in the oven or grill. Serve with veg. Easy peasy!

Otherwise you can coat your own fish, I beat an egg, roll the fish fillet in it then roll it in breadcrumbs and bake in the oven. Much healthier than frying it. (My DD2 is on a low fat low cal diet so I have got pretty good at thinking up healthier recipes!)

Hi, sorry i missed this..i dont really like the mix of cheese and fish(recipe went wrong many moons ago and put me totally off!)

have got good plans for this week ahead..lots of fresh salad in(i love salads anyway)and will try my best to steer of choc, but will be hard as its TOTM!
