H pylori ? Gastritis & stomach ulcer anyone ?

I have had upper abdominal pain which comes & goes for 5 years. It flares for days/ weeks at a time & then I will have a few days maximum a week without it before it comes back. I had investigations 7 years ago when I had bowel problems (which are now resolved) but the stomach pain was much later & I just tried to live with it - after trying many diets/ supplements / alternative treatments etc

I was pregnant last year & the pain became unbearable in the 3rd trimester
I then had a c section & miraculously all pain disappeared for a month - never happened before in 5 years

Now it has returned & worse than ever - no other symptoms apart from debilitating upper stomach pain which feels constant, tight & inflamed (not stabbing pains)

Someone has mentioned to me h pylori which I believe I was tested for 8 years ago negative (could this be here now?!) or gastritis or ulcer. Has anyone had similar with these symptoms ? I have been on pantaprozole for 2 weeks with no ease in symptoms . I am so desperate & my time with my baby daughter is being ruined

Any advice appreciated !! Thanks

If you're feeling so unwell with it do go back to your GP. If someone has mentioned H.pylori (a HCP?) You need triple therapy which is meds like the one you're on but also strong antibiotics too.
I had HP years ago, cleared up on triple therapy and I haven't had problems since but I do recall the gnawing very unpleasant pain.

If it isn't HP as the pain has been ongoing for years I'd really push for a gastro referral. GPs so often try to manage conditions themselves with repeat prescriptions and vague explanations.

If it isn't resolving and is causing you ongoing problems you need to see a specialist for investigations like an endoscopy.

I had this and I found probiotics got rid of it.
If you can drink something like yakult every day it could help.

Try those little yougurts with the bugs in them.
Have you considered that it might be anxiety ?

It needs investigation. I had an ulcer without HP. I found drinking plain water helped (maybe it dilutes stomach acid?) And eating at regular intervals. I got it partly due to meds and partly due to stress meaning not eating regular meals/skipping meals. Treated with a change of meds and two weeks of omeprazole which you can buy OTC. I had bloods to check for HP and an x-ray (for cancer?). Pain relief and dealing with stress was essential, if I get tense from stress or pain and hold my stomach area tight it made symptoms worse, I had to learn to relax that area. I eat every 4hrs now except when I'm sleeping and drink plain water in-between. I don't know but I'm guessing that flavoured drinks might cause the production of stomach acid and maybe plain water doesn't.
