gUMS / TEETH (?) BLEEDING WHEN USING AN ELECTRIC TOOTH BRUSH - DOES IT MEAN I SHOULD STOP?

Uhh, I got one for christmas and just started using it last night,
my teeth feel amazingly clean but my gums are bleeding whilst brushing, is this just because im getting a better clean? Will it stop? I dont want to stop using the toothbrush cause I think its brilliant.

my dentisrt said that after I had had them properly cleaned by the hygienist they would probably blled when brushed properly
she hsaid to just keep doing it regularly and properly and they would stop bleeding
