another norvovirus question...

if a person possibly remains infectious roughly a week after first feeling ill,and the person who has had the virus does not necessarily become imune to it after having it..how are we ever going to get rid of it?

it might sound a silly question, but so far in our household 3 people have been infected, roughly 10 days apart from each episode. 2 are school children..so they're gonna go back to school..and get it again..are'nt they?

you do become immune to it but the immunity doesn't last long. You wont catch it again a few days later or anything though!

Apparently you do become immune to it, but we have had it twice with only two weeks in between. The fist time we all had it really badly, but the second time only ds2 had it badly (maybe becuase he was run down because he had croup in between) and the rest of us only had sore guts and felt crap.

It may have been a diferent virus though, or a different strain of norovirus.

The immunity is supposed to last 14 weeks (I read somewhere) so it will burn itself out sooner rather than later

How do you know if its norovirus??

Wallace · 07/01/2008 20:15

I think you just presume that at the moment if uyuo have sickness and diarrhoea that it is norovirus. It might not be, though, I guess there must be other bugs going around too.

Ok. I had a dodgy tummy today and my sisters fiancee is sick etc. I bet everyone has a strain of it.
