Does anyone else wish they stop going on about this stomach bug on the news?

I do. I wouldn't say i was an emetophobe but i'm definitely bordering on it and when ever they start going on about these epidemics it brings me out in a cold sweat!

If it stops any stupid b*stard turning in at work and spreading it around everyone else, then it's surely a good thing. But sadly it won't.

paddyclamp · 06/01/2008 23:33

Well yes there is that i suppose

totally know where you are coming from paddy! i am bordering on emetophobia too and each time the news come on i start feeling queasy. I agree that the publicity may stop the spread and can only be a good thing but ... enough already!!

ScarlettOHairy · 07/01/2008 09:45

Sooooooooooo glad I'm in Switzerland.
We have it here too (less badly ???) but no one's going on about it. I only break out in cold sweats when I come on Mumsnet

MerlinsBeard · 07/01/2008 09:49

actually i think its a good idea, maybe now ppl will realise that its more than just a vomitting bug and take time to recover before taking children back to school/nursery/whereever

MerlinsBeard · 07/01/2008 09:50

although from an emetophobes POV i can see why it would be worrying

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/01/2008 09:51

I thought you were going to suggest that it's being hyped too much and people are overreacting and getting in a flap - which is what I think

Oh glad it's not just me. It really isn't good news for emetephobes... the thought of 200,000 people all throwing up at the moment makes me want to stay indoors until March! DD started school again today which makes me v. nervous. I've also issued DP with Milton solution so he can disinfect his hands after travelling on the tube!!

BellaLasagne · 07/01/2008 12:49

I hate it too but am concentrating on teh factoid I heard the other day that only 3.5% of people will get it. So that's 96.5% of us who are not going to I hope.

paddyclamp · 07/01/2008 21:11

That's a positive thought Bella! Me and DH are both teachers, i don't go back till tomorrow as i'm part time.

As soon as DH got in tonight i asked him if loads of kids were off sick and he said hardly any. I keep sayin i'm gonna ask DS and DD's nursery teachers how many have it but if just one person is off with it i'll panic, not to mention the fact they'll probably think i'm insane.

Makes me feel better knowing i'm not alone in feeling like this. Told myself last night i was gonna stay in today rather than brave the soft play center for fear of catching it but i went in the end. Maybe i am getting over this phobia slowly
