Any idea what this red lump is? It's new, I've had what's felt like a bad cold for a week and a half, stuffy nose, scratchy sore throat (mostly in the side where the red lump is)
Throat lozenges and pain killers not helping it.
All covid tests negative.
I used to get tonsillitis a lot, tonsillectomy when i was 17, now 36.

Ouch, that looks painful! No idea from a medical point of view but could it be an ulcer or something?

Muppetlove · 24/03/2022 21:06

Isn't that a quinsy?

whoruntheworldgirls · 24/03/2022 21:07

I can tolerate it during the day but it's stopping me sleeping which I'm not thrilled about Grin
Don't want to take up a GP apt though if it's likely nothing and will go away on its own (soon i hope!) i talk a lot for work and it's making that very uncomfortable.

I wonder if there’s a tonsil stone inside ?
Have you had many bouts of tonsillitis ?

GeneLovesJezebel · 25/03/2022 06:45

Sorry, just seen you e already answered that !
I’d be wanting it looked at.

whoruntheworldgirls · 25/03/2022 07:24

Thank you, I'll get in touch with the GP

Of course it warrants a GP appointment if it’s stopping you sleep. Smile

Palavah · 25/03/2022 07:31

Yes def see your GP. Could be a quinsy

Gonnabegrandma · 29/03/2022 22:23

My mum had quinsy years ago and it was like that and very painful . Get gp to look or send in photos

Spaghag · 29/03/2022 22:29

When I had a quinsy it was huge, to the extent of almost blocking my airway. I had to have an emergency admission & IV antibiotics. So I'm not convinced it's that TBH.

If it's causing you pain or discomfort though definitely get a medical opinion.

loopylindi · 29/03/2022 22:37

get a throat spray with anaesthetic in (Covonia) It will deaden the pain a bit

Stoky · 11/06/2025 11:46

I have the same. What did your gp say?
