red cheeks

on face not bottom!! My 7 month ds has very red cheeks at the moment but otherwise is fine. Would this be too hot (not overly dressed or anything), teething or something to be more concerned about (dh laughingly said perhaps he has high blood pressue!)

Could very well be teething - DS is also seven months and cutting his top two at the moment. I call him Rudolph the Red-cheeked Baby as I like to be festive about these things!

Most likely teething, but could have been Slapped Cheek Disease (Fifth Disease) if he seemed out of sorts or unwell, or could be reaction to heat or wind chapping. Check if his back is hot or sweaty if so then lose a layer of clothing.

thanks. No hot and sweaty back and seems to have gone down alright in his cot. He didn't sleep much today so I think most likely teething. HM - he has his 2 bottom ones (just starting cleaning them) so perahps his top ones might come through soon

My 11 month old dd has these too but I'm assuming it's teeth since she seems otherwise well and happy. Have you taken his temp? If it's Ok and he seemed ok and has gone to sleep I wouldn't worry. If he wakes, I bet it's teeth, so give him calpol. That's how I'm approaching dd's red cheeks anyway! HTH.

Don't they look cute with just the bottom two? The top two have been coming through forever - but this morning I saw the white line on the top left one - his gum is literally bulging with tooth! They look much bigger than the bottom ones, so I guess they'll hurt more. Poor little chaps!

Yes, so cute have you tried cleaning them? Ds looks at me like i'm a mad woman!! www - thanks, will take his temp if he wakes up, should have done it before bed really but too late now

Yes, we clean them in the bath and first thing in the morning. DS frowns at me, then rather solemnly opens his mouth. If I give him the toothbrush, he waves it round, then jams it into his mouth! I've been brushing his gum at the top too, so he gets used to the brush there - and I think it feels nice on his poor gum too! It makes him giggle!
