Any tips?! 15yr old DS ripped his toe nail playing football tonight and he's in agony. We've tried folding it back over but it won't budge and we've soaked it in the bath to try and cut it down but it's too painful.
Paracetamol has helped a bit.

Oh, that looks so painful. Poor DS.

I think that warrants a trip to urgent care as it's so painful. Ouch!!!

Thank you, we're heading to the minor injuries unit today. I'm just not sure how to tackle it, poor DS has hardly slept.

Let them sort it out, they might be able to numb it and then clip the nail and dress it. Best of luck.

Thank you, he's there now and hopefully will return feeling much more comfortable.

How did he get on ?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/03/2022 23:03

Ow.

I’ve got a fairly high pain threshold.

I reckon that would have had me snivelling.

Hope he has been sorted out. ☹️

They gave him some gas and air whilst pushing the nail back into place and then dressed it. The nurse said this was the best way to prevent infection rather than cutting it down, he was sent away with spare dressings. DS said it was agony whilst they pushed back the nail but it was over quickly.
He's much more comfortable now although shoes are impossible because of the dressing, except for his Greggs sliders 🤣 He went shopping with friends a few weeks ago and proudly returned with them. I laughed at the time but they're proving to be ver useful!
