Terbinafine (toenail fungus): How long were you on it?

Am considering asking to go on it. I have had toenail fungus for ages, and surrounding skin inflammation; I'm tired of it, but I don't want to not drink for ever! 😂

How long did it take for the toenail fungus to go away?

Dh took it for about 6 months. He didn't give up our weekend drinks

I was on it for two months before it activated an autoimmune condition that was simmering below the surface. Its been my biggest regret taking it. Be really careful and talk to your dr if you get any side effects at all. Hopefully you won't be unlucky like me.

Years… it can cause liver damage so try other options first (otc & possibly laser)

My fungal nail issues have cleared up since the pandemic as now I wfh I never wear tights & can wear flip flops during the day & change socks more often (eg 3x a day). Could this be an option for you?

(Had previously suffered for over a decade with recurrent problems, nail fell off entirely around lockdown 1)

PS - when I worked in an office I took extra socks in my bag and changed at lunchtime. Air really helps - open toed shoes, wearing flip flops round the house etc

I took it and it worked really quickly in getting rid of my fungal infection with no issues. I don't think it was any more than a couple of months.

My husband was on them for 6 months with blood tests every 2 weeks, his liver started failing so he was taken off them, he abstained from alcohol. Fungus is still present but thankfully so is his liver.
