have had this for a few weeks now and it is getting more noticeable - saw dr about it before xmas who examined me with a thick jumper on (!) and said he thought i was just straining muscles by lifting my ds (14 mo) a lot - am sure this could be the case but i am beginning to worry it might be something more serious than that - any words of wisdom anyone? will prob go back to dr next week. ta!

It could be that one of your ribs / muscles attached to a rib are strained - have you found any breast lumps or anything like that? Do you have a history of any lumps etc? i personally would get the GP to do a proper breast exam and see an osteopath (in any order!!). Is the pain worse or more pronounced if you take a deep breathe in or twist your body or raise your arms?

Don't worry - it is far more likely to be something simple!

Ditto pipe&smokeit. You could perhaps try the nurse or a different GP if you don't think much of your first GPs examination technique.

I had similar symptoms a couple of years ago. Whilst talking to the GP, realised that actually it probably was strain from helping DD learn to rollerskate. However, GP still did thorough breast exam and asked me to go back a month later so she could check again. All was ok, but would definitely try to see a different GP for another opinion, fairylights.

Bizarre.I had the same thing for about 10 weeks,on my left side.I actually got around to seeing my GP a month ago & she said it was probably nothing, that pain was good & checked me for lumps. As it was the first day of my period,I was a bit lumpy,so am going back in a couple of weeks to be rechecked.

Good luck.

I've had this on and off for a couple of months - usually on my left but very occasionally on my right side. I can't feel any lumps but have wondered if it was anything to do with the fact that I have gained some weight and my bras are a little tighter.

Is pain a good sign re anything sinister then?

thanks ladies - in answer to your Qs:
no there are no lumps and i have never had any breast lumps; it doesn't really hurt more if i breathe in or raise arms..
do think its prob just muscle strain as the LO isn't walking yet so lift him quite a lot.
Think i will ask the GP to give me a proper exam anyway, just for peace of mind.
Thanks!
